Default Parking Brake Fault

I have a 2006 VW Passat TDi SE (140bhp) saloon (manual box). It has developed an intermittent parking break fault. (push button on dash type). Warning light indicates fault and sometimes will last for days then will start working again. Full service 2 weeks ago by an independant mechanic put new rear pads on which solved the problem we thought. Problem started again today.
Any suggestions.

Thanks

Hey Matt,

Do you still have the problem? If so, where are you based?
