Open Question: Can an NCB be transferred from father to son?
My dad had 2 insurance policies: one that had 7 years no claims bonus, one had 2 years no claims. He recently sold his car and rarely drives the family car as he now takes public transport to work. I would like to change myself to be the policy holder on the family car as I drive it the most. Can I use either of the two no claims bonuses in some way or are they now wasted? Tesco quoted me £2,200 without a NCB and £900 with a no claims bonus. My current insurer (Express Insurance) quoted me £3,500 (up from £800) if I become the primary driver. Just some background, this is a diesel Audi A4 that gets 55mpg, I am 23 and I had my license for more than 3 years. A few more details, I was a named driver on the policy for 3 years, does that not entitle me to any discount?
